Some things belong to the sea...

The official trailer for the upcoming Italian film Dark Blue has recently been released and while the teaser gave practically nothing away the trailer provides us with a very intriguing story so when considered alongside the cast and crew of this film we have every cause to be excited.

Representing the directorial debut of experienced genre actor Michael Segal (Eating Schoolgirls: Osaka Telephone Club; Apocalypse Z; Age of the Dead; Insane; Virus: Extreme Contamination), Dark Blue follows the discovery of a ship that while carrying cargo set for the Vatican City sank in the Mediterranean Sea back in the 1930’s.

However this ship and its cargo holds many mysteries and when two scuba-divers attempt to investigate the wreckage they uncover much more than they had hoped. The films tag line ‘Some things belong to the sea and should stay there’ vaguely indicates what kind of adventure film this is going to be and I am certain it will contain more than its fair share of tense moments and action.

Not content with just being behind the camera but Segal, who also wrote the movie, stars as scuba diver Mike, alongside Roberto D’Antona, who is best known for his role as Condom in the crazy dark crime comedy Insane. Between them these two have quite a strong independent CV and their experience will no doubt help raise this film up above the plethora of cult indie films to be released this year.

Now if the previously mentioned films mean anything to you then you will now doubt also recognise David White (Apocalypse Z; Age of the Dead; Insane; The Blind King) who takes the role of an enigmatic fisherman while making her feature length acting debut is the gorgeous Flavia Sabatino.

Although it’s an Italian film, through Permanent Memories Production, Dark Blue is shot in English and looks absolutely stunning, more so than any independent film has a right too and based on the footage we have seen contains some fantastic underwater shots and action.

While no official release date has been announced you can keep up to date with the film over on its Facebook page and check out the trailer below.
