Dare you enter the House on Sorority Row?

One genre that has neglected on this site so far is the slasher - often sexy, often dumb and almost always gory (well the good ones anyway) when done correctly and with these elements the slasher film provides a great nights entertainment for so many reasons and thinking about it I have no idea why I have not covered these films more.

 

Now at some point all slasher roads lead to the United States of America but most recently this has been by the way of 88 Films terrific Slasher Classics Collection which has brought numerous under rated and under valued gems from the past back to our screens, with SLAUGHTERHOUSE and, INTRUDER in particular being highlights for me.

These two favourites of mine are now going to be joined by the terrific 1983 cult favourite THE HOUSE ON SORORITY ROW (fuck the 2009 lame attempt at adapting the film for modern audiences) in which a group of beautiful young college babes innocent prank goes horribly wrong, who would have imagined, they find themselves having to pit their wits against a mysterious clown-masked marauder who likes nothing better than tearing into the flesh of feisty graduate girls!

Released just in time for Halloween, on Monday October 23rd, THE HOUSE ON SORORITY ROW will be on blu ray with a remastered HD scan and a variety of brand new extras including specially recorded commentary by he Hysteria Lives team – headed by Justin Kerswell, author of the best-selling, must-have book 'Teenage Wasteland: The Slasher Movie Uncut' [Highly recommended you read as well].

Meanwhile the release will also feature a lengthy interview with composer Richard Band, an insightful chat with the UK’s leading critic Kim Newman not to mention a collectors booklet from Calum Waddell on the initial limited pressing.
