Man’s fear has risen again
Award winning short film director Davide Melini (The Puzzle, The Sweet Hand of the White Rose) who learned his trade from the master of horror Dario Argento on Mother of Tears and has just finished working on the hit US TV show Penny Dreadful returns with his new film ‘Lion’.
Set at an isolated chalet in a snowy forest the film follows a man, blinded by alcohol; a woman unable to rebel and a troubled 8-year old child who is trapped in this world. Cut off and emotionally alone the silence of the night is soon broken with cries and the start of a terrible nightmare!
Information on the film’s plot is still pretty cryptic, especially when considered alongside the films poster (by Guille León) which initially indicated something similar to the 2010 film Burning Bright, but based on the directors past exploits I wouldn’t be surprised for a much more subtle, psychological and metaphorical dimension to this film.
Currently in post-production and slated for a Halloween release, Lion features Michael Segal (Colour from the Dark; Anger of the Dead) and Tania Mercader, making her feature length film debut but it is behind the scenes where the CVs really impress. Working alongside writer/director Melini are producers who have worked on films such as Thor, Apocalypto, Titanic, The Dark Knight Rises and Hannibal Rising amongst many others and with a pedigree this high we are expecting something special from Davide.
