The fashion giallo is back in style!

Mannequins, excess and death; since Mario Bava’s seminal 1964 giallo BLOOD AND BLACK LACE, the giallo has often been linked to fashion and style so it is hardly surprising that the Argentinian film MIRADA DE CRISTAL looks to transport us back to the 1980s where style and greed were in abundance and worth dying for. The film is also known as CRYSTAL EYES, not to be confused with EYES OF CRYSTAL from 2004.

The trailer, shot in the Spanish language with English subtitles, displays some arguably lower budget grindhouse visual sensibilities and certainly looks bizarre enough to warrant further investigation as does the fashion sense on display here. Discover it for yourself in the trailer below.

Written and directed by Ezequiel Endelman and Leandro Montejano, MIRADA DE CRISTAL will undoubtedly draw some comparisons to the gialli of Luciano Onetti simply because of the country of origin but with a story set in the aftermath of the death of a supermodel while closing a runway show it is no surprise that a series of mysterious events and disappearances begin on the anniversary of that unfortunate accident - ok so there maybe some weight regarding comparisons to the film FRANCESCA but overall it appears that there is much more to debate when comparing similarities to BLOOD AND BLACK LACE; DELIRIUM and NOTHING UNDERNEATH - at least at this early stage and with the information we have.
