To Gacy with (horrific) style!
A short while ago a friend who is really into serial killers suggested a book for me to check out. That book was 'The Last Victim' by Jason Moss and detailed the authors own fascination and interaction with serial killers, in particular with the killer clown, John Wayne Gacy.
Now I'm not about to go into the sadistic crimes of this deranged maniac as there are plenty of books, documentaries and fictional films that do that but none appear as brutal as the upcoming flick TORMENT from director Adam Ford, here making his first non-hardcore film.
TORMENT promises to show us the more cruel and morbid side of Gacy, the side only hinted at in previous films and with the directors background of working in horror and pornographic films (IL MUSEO DELLA CARNE) alongside the films trailer (see below) I am inclined to believe him.
Featuring Rikky Fiore, Matteo De Liberato, Marco Pielich and Manuel Favaretto, all of which I know nothing about this film will no doubt benefit from its lack of preconceptions towards the cast and crew allowing you to be more drawn into the fantasy world. Now I have also noticed a bit of stirring in the Italian underground scene itself over the last few years with some films such as HIPPOCAMPUS M 21TH and UNDERCOVER MISTRESS being unafraid to challenge convention and "normality" using sexual metaphor for deeper issues while others take the more Americanised torture porn route, with TORMENT looking like it will straddle the two styles, albeit of course this is based much more on reality than conceptualism or the externalisation of the internal.

The film itself forms part of a trilogy of death bookended by SACRIFICE from a director with the interesting moniker 'Poison Rouge' and the more mysterious ESPIAZIONE for which I have no information apart from that this trilogy has been made possible by the Italian director and producer Domiziano Cristopharo (HOUSE OF FLESH MANNEQUINS; RED KROKODIL) and promises to a brutal watch for its audience...even if I suspect it to be niche for these releases.
TORMENT certainly doesn't look like it will be for everyone even in the horror community but it certainly looks brutal enough for us! No news on a release date but further info can be found below or via this site when available. And remember in the words of Gacy himself "The dead won't bother you, it's the living you have to worry about'.
